Donald M. McCarren, D.O., F.A.A.N., F.A.A.N.E.M.

Dr. Donald McCarren's lifelong interest in medicine and passion for neurology is reflected in his practice of neurology since 1997.  He  trained with Dr. Robert Schwartzman, a world renowned neurologist and chairman of the Department of Neurology at Drexel University.

Dr. McCarren received his medical degree at The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1989. He completed his medical training at Thomas Jefferson University where he served as chief neurology resident in his last year.

Dr. McCarren is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM). He was awarded fellowship status by the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM).  He maintains memberships in several medical societies including the American Academy of Neurology, the American Medical Association, The American Osteophathic Association, the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and the Pennsylvania Medical Society.

He has received several prestigious awards throughout his career, including a Pew Charitable Trust grant for a computer-assisted instruction on dementia and an award from the Alumni International Fellowship Committee. He also holds a copyright for a computer program on dementia.

Dr. McCarren has varied interests in neurology including peripheral nerve disorders, ADD, and Multiple Sclerosis. He serves as a principal investigator in trials relevant to these areas of interest. He holds a teaching position at Thomas Jefferson University and manages his active practice in Collegeville, Pennsylvania.
